miscellaneous taxa

Many fossil impressions found within the late Ediacaran Period cannot currently be assigned to the groups listed here, either because they possess very different body plans, or because their morphology is primarily influenced by microbial or preservational factors. These fossils, which record organisms that are almost certainly unrelated, are grouped as 'miscellaneous' for convenience.
